Broken key extraction for car and home locks.
A key that snaps off in a lock or ignition can usually be extracted without replacing the lock. Lock Raven removes broken key pieces from car doors, ignitions, and house locks, checks the lock for damage, and cuts a new key on the same visit, programming it if the car needs a transponder.
What to do right now
- Stop turning or pushing. Forcing it drives the piece deeper.
- Do not try superglue or a second key. Both make extraction harder.
- Keep the broken piece. It helps us cut the replacement.
Why keys break
Worn keys, worn locks, and forcing a key that sticks are the usual causes. If the lock is stiff, it often needs service, not more force.

Broken key extraction: common questions.
Straight answers, without the upsell.
Will the lock need to be replaced?
Usually not. Most broken keys can be extracted and the lock keeps working. If the lock was damaged, we explain the options before doing more.
Can you cut a new key from the broken pieces?
Often, yes. Car keys may also need programming, which we do on site.
How much will it cost?
It depends on the hardware, the door, and the number of locks, so we price every job before any work starts. Call with the details, or send the quote form, and you will have a price before you commit to anything.
