Transponder keys and spare car keys.
Most cars since the late 1990s use transponder keys: a chip in the key head talks to the immobilizer, and the car will not start without it. Lock Raven cuts and programs transponder keys and spares on site. Getting a spare while you still have a working key is far simpler than replacing every key after the last one is lost.

Why a cut copy will not start the car
A hardware-store copy can turn the ignition but the engine shuts off, because the chip is missing or not programmed. A transponder key has to be programmed to your specific car.
Laser-cut keys
Many keys have a groove milled into the side of the blade instead of edge notches. These need a specialized cutting machine, which we carry.

Transponder and spare keys: common questions.
Straight answers, without the upsell.
How do I know if my key has a chip?
Most keys for cars from the late 1990s on do. A thick plastic head is a good hint. Tell us the year, make, and model and we will confirm.
Is a spare worth it?
Yes. Adding a key while you have one is the simplest job; replacing every key after the last one is lost takes longer.
How much will it cost?
It depends on the hardware, the door, and the number of locks, so we price every job before any work starts. Call with the details, or send the quote form, and you will have a price before you commit to anything.
