Key fob and remote programming.
A key fob or remote has to be programmed to your car before its buttons, and often its chip, will work. Lock Raven programs replacement and spare fobs, remote-head keys, and flip keys on site for most makes, and checks compatibility first so you do not pay for a fob that cannot be programmed.

Two things get programmed
Many fobs contain both a remote (lock, unlock, trunk) and a transponder chip that lets the engine start. Both may need programming. A fob that unlocks the doors but will not start the car usually has an unprogrammed or wrong chip.
About fobs bought online
Cheap online fobs are often the wrong frequency or chip for the vehicle and cannot be programmed. If you already have one, tell us the part number and we will check before we come out.

Key fob programming: common questions.
Straight answers, without the upsell.
Can you program a fob I bought myself?
Sometimes. It depends on whether the fob matches your vehicle exactly. Send us the part number and the vehicle details and we will check first.
My fob stopped working. Do I need a new one?
Not always. A dead battery, a worn button, or a lost programming can all cause it. We test before replacing anything.
How much will it cost?
It depends on the hardware, the door, and the number of locks, so we price every job before any work starts. Call with the details, or send the quote form, and you will have a price before you commit to anything.
