Panic bars and exit devices, installed and repaired.
A panic bar, or exit device, lets anyone leave a building with a single push while keeping the door locked from outside. Lock Raven installs, repairs, and adjusts exit devices on storefronts, gates, and emergency exits, including alarmed devices from Detex and exit hardware from Von Duprin. Our photos below show recent installs on secured gates.

Common exit device jobs
- New installs on emergency exits, storefronts, and gates.
- Alarmed exits that sound when the door is opened, to stop doors being used as shortcuts.
- Repairs when the bar sticks, the latch does not catch, or the door will not stay locked.
- Outside trim so a door can be opened with a key or lever from outside.
- Electrified exit devices tied into access control.
Code comes first
Exit devices protect people, so they are covered by building and fire codes. The rules depend on the building and its occupancy, so we install to the code requirements that apply and coordinate with your fire marshal or inspector when needed. See our panic bar code basics guide.

Panic bars and exit devices: common questions.
Straight answers, without the upsell.
Can you fix a panic bar that will not latch?
Usually. Most latching problems come from wear, misalignment, or a door that has sagged. We adjust or repair the device and the strike, and replace it only when it is worn out.
Do you install alarmed exit devices?
Yes. Alarmed devices such as those from Detex sound a local alarm when the door is opened, which keeps emergency exits from being used as everyday doors.
Are you licensed to do this work in Maryland?
Yes. Lock Raven holds Maryland Locksmith License #737 and is licensed, bonded, and insured. You can verify the license on the Maryland Department of Labor lookup linked at the bottom of every page.
