Deadbolt installation and upgrades.
A deadbolt is the main lock on most entry doors, and its strength depends on the bolt, the strike, and how it is installed. Lock Raven installs new and replacement deadbolts, including ANSI Grade 1 models and keypad deadbolts from Schlage, Yale, Kwikset, and Baldwin, with reinforced strikes and long screws that reach the frame.

What makes a deadbolt strong
- Grade. ANSI/BHMA Grade 1 is the highest residential and light commercial rating; Grade 2 and 3 follow.
- The strike. Most kick-ins break the frame, not the lock. A reinforced strike with long screws into the stud makes the biggest difference.
- Full bolt throw. The bolt should extend fully into the frame every time.
| Grade | Typical use |
|---|---|
| Grade 1 | Highest rating; entry doors, light commercial |
| Grade 2 | Residential entry doors |
| Grade 3 | Basic residential |

Can you install a deadbolt where there is none?
Yes. We bore the door, install the bolt and strike, and make sure it throws fully into the frame.
Can the new deadbolt match my other keys?
Usually, if it uses the same keyway as your other locks. We can key it to match.
How much will it cost?
It depends on the hardware, the door, and the number of locks, so we price every job before any work starts. Call with the details, or send the quote form, and you will have a price before you commit to anything.
